Bhubaneswar: The murder case of school teacher Mamita Meher continues to reveal the cesspool of murky dealings of the arrested managing committee president of the school Govind Sahu.
Even as investigation into the allegations of murdering Mamita and running a sex racket in educational institutions run by Sahu is continuing, fresh accusations of murder of a former headmaster’s daughter and land grabbing have surfaced against him.
The retired headmaster of Mahaling High School in Kalahandi district, Motilal Nayak has alleged that Sahu and his associates were involved in the killing of his daughter in August last year. Though he approached police, ministers and even chief minister seeking justice, Sahu managed to hush up the matter because of his proximity to powers-that-be.
“Sahu killed my daughter by running a tractor over her in 2020. I had filed complaint at the local police station and approached many political leaders and ministers seeking justice. But he managed to suppress the case,” Nayak told a local TV channel.
Stating that Mamita case did not surprise him as he was well aware of Sahu’s illegal works, Nayak said he had also sought intervention of the then law minister and chief minister Naveen Patnaik. But Sahu used his influences in the government circles and escaped from any actions, the former headmaster alleged.
In a land grabbing case, Sahu has been accused of forcibly occupying 1.27 acre land Kadobhata village near Mahaling. Shantanu Kumar Singh, a villager said Sahu had offered him and his son jobs and Rs 2.4 lakh for purchasing 1.27 acre of his land.
Singh alleged that Sahu was a fraudster and cheated him by paying only Rs 30,000 land. When the villager demanded the rest amount, Sahu threatened Nayak of handing him over to police, he said.
