Angul: A man and his three-year-old son were crushed to death after being run over by a truck in Talcher area of Odisha’s Angul district on Saturday.
The mishap took place near Bankadhara Chhak in Talcher when the victims were returning home on a motorcycle after doing some shopping on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr.
The deceased were identified as Mohammad Asif and his son Md Asbar of Godibandha. Asif’s nephew, Md Khirodlal sustained grievous injuries in the mishap.
While the father-son duo died on the spot after being run over by the truck, the injured was admitted to hospital for treatment.
The incident triggered tension in the area and angry locals staged a protest demanding compensation for the family of the deceased.
A team of police personnel rushed to the site and launched an investigation into the incident.
