Bhubaneswar: Man and his 4-year-old daughter died after the car in which they were travelling crashed into a divider on NH-16 near Jasotikiri Chhak under Bhandaripokhri police limits in Odisha’s Bhadrak district on Sunday.
The deceased have been identified as Subhashis Ganguly (42) and Koel Ganguly.
According to sources, the accident took place around 10.45 am when the speeding car with the family of four and their driver from West Bengal’s Kharagpur dashed against a road divider and overturned while they were returning home after visiting Puri.
All five were rescued by fire service personnel. They were initially admitted to a hospital at Bhandaripokhri and later shifted to district headquarters hospital in Bhadarak where doctors declared the father-daughter duo dead.
The injured identified as Rakhi Ganguly and Rupa Ganguly, along with the driver of the car, are undergoing treatment at the hospital.
Police have started an investigation to ascertain the reason behind the accident.
