Balangir: A man was arrested on Tuesday for allegedly crushing a jeweller to death with a stone at a village in Odisha’s Balangir district three years ago.
According to sources, the accused had attacked the gold trader and crushed him to death with a piece of stone inside a forest in 2020 following a heated argument over payment of money.
The incident took place near Hatisara village under the jurisdiction of Deogaon police station in the district. The decomposed body of the jeweller was recovered from the forest after a few days following a prolonged search operation.
A hunt had been launched for the accused following investigation into the murder. After evading the police dragnet for three years, the accused was caught. The police also carried out recreation of the crime scene after nabbing him.
