Balasore: A man was arrested for allegedly attempting to rape a minor girl at Hatasahi in Soro area of Balasore district late on Monday.
The accused has been identified as Subash Das.
The incident reportedly took place around 1 am when the girl was sleeping with her grandmother. The accused somehow entered the house and forcibly took the child to a nearby isolated place in an attempt to rape her.
Hearing the victim’s screams, her father rushed to the spot and saw the girl lying in a bushy area.
However, Subash, who happens to be a relative of the child, escaped from the place.
A complaint regarding the crime was lodged at the local police station. The police swung into action and managed to catch the culprit.
