Cuttack: A man was arrested by the police in Cuttack on Sunday for allegedly making obscene video calls to some women actors in Odia film and television industry. The accused, identified as Mithun Bhoi, plays negative characters as supporting actor in the industry.
Sources said Mithun had opened a fake WhatsApp profile in the name of an Odia film producer and allegedly targeted some newcomer female actors by chatting with them. He allegedly made obscene video calls at times to some actresses from the fake social media account.
Acting on a complaint lodged against Mithum, police carried out a probe. Following preliminary investigation, the cyber police personnel arrested him and seized at least two mobile phones and some SIM cards from his possession.
According to Cuttack Additional DCP Anil Mishra, police received a complaint from a film producer and conducted a detailed probe. During investigation, it was ascertained that Mithun had opened a fake account in the complainant’s name. He had been making obscene video calls to some film and television actresses.
