Balasore: Police have arrested a man for allegedly raping a physically challenged girl in her house in Odisha’s Balasore district.
According to sources, the man, a cycle mechanic, had gone to the girl’s house on some work in Taranga under Khaira police limits in the district.
On finding the physically challenged girl was alone in the house, he allegedly raped her. As the cried for help, the accused tried to flee from the scene. But the villagers caught hold of him and informed the police.
A team from Khaira police station went to the village and took the man into custody. After the girl’s family filed a complaint against the cycle mechanic, the police registered a case and arrested him.
Another complaint against the accused for attempting to outrage the modesty of a girl is pending in the police station, the sources said.
