Baripada: Police have arrested a man for allegedly raping his physically challenged niece in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district.
According to sources, the girl belonging to Badapheni under Khunta police station in the district had taken a herd of goats for grazing in the forest near the village on Wednesday.
The girl’s maternal uncle Raj Kishore Das, who was going through the forest, found her alone. On the promise of giving her chocolates, he took her deep inside the forest and allegedly raped her.
On returning home, the girl informed her parents about the incident at night. Next day, her parents lodged a complaint against Das at Khunta police station.
The police registered a case and sent the girl for medical examination. They also launched a search operation to trace Das. On finding him on Friday, the police arrested Das and forwarded him to court.
