Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police arrested one person while selling brown sugar behind a private hospital in Bhubaneswar and seized the contraband on Sunday.
Following reliable information about drug peddling, a special team from Chandrasekharpur police station in the city conducted a raid on the road behind the Utkal Hospital in Niladri Vihar. They apprehended the drug peddler in possession of the brown sugar.
The police seized 7.5 gram brown sugar, a motorcycle and Rs 1,000 from the possession of the accused and arrested him. The arrested person was identified as 27-year-old Nila Pattnaik of Darutheng under Chandaka police station.
Nila confessed to the police about his involvement in brown sugar trade. He was earlier arrested in connection with peddling the drugs, police sources said.
The police registered a case against the accused and forwarded him to the court.
