Man Arrested For Trying To Rape Bengal Woman In Bhubaneswar Hotel



Bhubaneswar: A man was arrested on Saturday for allegedly attempting to rape a woman from West Bengal at a hotel in Bharatpur area of Bhubaneswar.

ation in Baleshwar district, was arrested following a complaint lodged by the survivor at Bharatpur Police Station.

Police sources said the woman, a resident of the Girish Park area in Kolkata, had been living in Bhubaneswar with her husband for the past four months. The couple stayed at a hotel in the GA Colony area under the jurisdiction of Bharatpur police station in the city.

The alleged incident took place when the woman’s husband was away from the hotel room. Taking advantage of his absence, the accused allegedly entered the premises and attempted to sexually assault her. The woman resisted the attack and later approached the police.

Acting on the complaint, police registered a case, launched an investigation, and apprehended the accused. He was produced before a local court and remanded to judicial custody.
Further investigation into the case is underway.
