The Nayapalli police have arrested the man after the girl lodged a complaint. Police said the accused, from Jajpur district, had befriended the girl on social media and requested her to find a job for him in the state capital.
The girl found him a job at Nayapalli. The accused was living in Paika Nagar after shifting to the city. He then proposed to the girl, which she rejected. Police said the accused then allegedly started harassing her over phone and was forcing her to accompany him to an OYO hotel.
According to the police, the accused also threatened to end his life and blame her for his death if she did not agree, the complainant alleged.
After the girl blocked his phone number, he started calling her from another number, the police said.
