Sambalpur: A man reportedly attempted to commit suicide by slitting his throat after remaining bed-ridden due to illness for 3 years in Odisha’s Sambalpur district.
As per reports, the man, identified as Krushna Chandra Bhoi of Daincha village under Rairakhol police limits, was afflicted with unidentified disease three years back. Due to the illness, he has been unable to move his legs and hand and remained confined to the bed in his house.
Due to unbearable pain in the throat, 60-year-old Krushna cannot take solid food also. He has been depending his wife Urmila Bhoi for his daily activities.
He had consulted doctors in hospitals at Rairakhol and VIMSAR in Burla. But there has been no improvement in his condition despite taking the medicines prescribed by the doctors.
On Saturday, when Urmila was out of the house on some work, Krushna attempted to commit suicide. When Urmila returned, she found him lying in a pool of blood on the floor and his neck was slit.
Urmila with the help of the villagers rushed him to the hospital at Rairakhol. Later, he was shifted to VIMSAR in Burla.
Krushna apparently took the extreme step as he gave up the hope of recovering from the illness, said his wife.
