Puri: A man was detained by Singhadwara Police in Odisha’s Puri town while trying to climb atop Nilachakra of Jagannath Temple on Wednesday.
He has been identified as a servitor of Agneshwar Mahadev temple Chandrasekhar Panda.
According to sources, Chandrasekhar was initially spotted by a few Chunara servitors wandering around Neelachakra on the temple’s dome. The Jagannath Temple Police (JTP) personnel then asked him to climb down. He had reportedly made use of the shackle meant for Chunara servitors. After repeated calls, he finally got down through the roof of the Dakshinaghar.
He is being interrogated in this regard.
This comes close on the heels of the August 14 incident when a man from Ganjam district had climbed atop Natamandap of the 12th-century shrine.
