Sundargarh: After returning home in an inebriated condition, a man allegedly axed his wife to death at Nabrangpur village under Sadar police limits of Sundargarh district late on Tuesday night.
The deceased has been identified as Niati, who reportedly had a tiff with her husband Raju Ekka the previous night after he brought a married woman to their home. The matter landed at the police station where it was resolved.
However, the couple got involved in another quarrel last night. In a fit of rage, Raju took an axe and attacked Niati. Following the incident, Raju went and fell asleep. Their son informed the neighbours, who called the cops.
Police have detained Raju and began an investigation into the matter.
