Bhubaneswar: In a shocking incident, young man in was allegedly beaten to death by his friend over a financial dispute in Balipatna area near Bhubaneswar on Friday.
The incident, which took place at Bengabati village under the jurisdiction of Balipatna police station, comes a day after a GRP constable was killed in a mob violence in Balianta area near the capi
tal city.
The deceased youth has been identified as Rakesh Das alias Montu from Athantar village in the area. He reportedly lost his life over Rs 20,000. According to police, two friends entered into an argument and, one of them attacked the victim with an iron rod.
The victim sustained grievous injuries on his head and was immediately rushed to capital hospital for treatment. However, he succumbed to his injuries while being treated, said the police.
The Balipatna police have detained the accused and launched a probe into the incident.
It may be noted that the railway constable Soumya Ranjan Swain of Adaspur was beaten to death by some people after he allegedly tried to sexually assault two women at Balianta, located near the capital city, on Thursday.
