Sundargarh: A man was allegedly beaten to death by his neighbour following a verbal spat that escalated into violence late Thursday night at Munda Sahi in Koida tehsil of Odisha’s Sundargarh district.
The deceased has been identif
ied as Sadhu Munda.
According to sources, Sadhu, his brother-in-law Masi Munda and the accused, Rui Munda, had attended a feast together on Thursday evening. While returning to their village, an old dispute resurfaced, leading to a heated argument between Sadhu and Masi. Following which, Sadhu attacked Masi with a stick. Rui, who had an old axe to grind, soon joined in and thrashed Sadhu, who sustained severe injuries from the blows and died on the spot.
Koida Police have recovered the body and initiated an investigation. The accused has also been detained for questioning. Masi and his wife are also at the police station.
