Man Beaten To Death By Son After Refusing Money For Liquor In Odisha’s Cuttack

Cuttack: An elderly man was allegedly beaten to death by his son for refusing to give him money to consume liquor in Athagarh area of Odisha’s Cuttack district.

The deceased was identified as Balunkeshwar Mohanty (75). The accused,  Aparti Mohanty, has been detained by the police in connection with the incident that took place late on Sunday night, sourecs said.

As per villagers, Aparti is a habitual drunkard and he had been frequently taking money from his father for consuming liquor.

When he sought money for liquor in the night, his father expressed his inability to give him cash. The accused got furious and allegedly hit his father with an iron rod. Balunkeswar died on the spot.

On being informed, a team of police personnel rushed to the spot and launched an investigation. The accused, who has been detained, is being interrogated by the police. Further details are awaited.
