Balangir: A man was allegedly beaten to death for not returning a bicycle he had taken from a friend at a village in Odisha’s Balangir district.
The incident took place at Damakipali village under the jurisdiction of Larambha police station in the district on Wednesday. The deceased was identified as Tikelal Bag (32).
Sources said Tikelal had borrowed a bicycle from his friend Kuna Behera of the village a few days ago. As he was yet to return the bicycle, Kuna and his associate Om visited him to take it back.
When they met, a heated argument erupted and the two brutally attacked Tikelal, causing him grievous injuries. Kuna and Om reportedly fled the scene after committing the act.
Tikelal was rescued by his family members and rushed to a hospital, where he died during treatment.
Acting on a complaint lodged by the family of the deceased, the police have registered a case and launched an investigation. A hunt has been launched to trace and nab the accused.
