Man Beaten To Death For Snatching Mobile Phone In Odisha’s Bargarh

Bargarh: A man was beaten to death by local people for allegedly snatching mobile phone in Odisha’s Bargarh district on Tuesday.

As per reports, four miscreants targeted the students returning from college to their homes and tried to snatch their mobile phones near Sahutikra under Bargarh Rural police station in the afternoon. Though the students resisted the miscreants and managed to escape, the latter succeeded in taking away some mobile phone.

On reaching home, the students told their families about the incident. The family members along with the villagers went to the spot and found the miscreants still there.

The villagers caught hold of three miscreants and beat them up mercilessly. While the three captured phone snatchers sustained critical injuries in the attack, one of them managed to escape.

The injured miscreants were admitted to the old district headquarters hospital in Bargarh town. While one of them succumbed, the condition of two others was stated to be critical.

The deceased was identified as Bijay Bagh of Pandaripathar village under Baragrh Sadar police limits. The two injured are Surat Karmi of Pandaripathar and Biku Jal of Sambalpur.

Soon after the attack on the miscreants, police went to the spot, but failed to find any assailants. They have registered a case and started investigation.
