Sambalpur: Police are on the lookout for the killer, who decamped with the head of a man after beheading him at Bhalupali-Tileimal village under Ainthapalli police limits in Odisha’s Sambalpur district in the wee hours of Tuesday.
The deceased has been identified as Satyanarayan Munda.
According to the family members, due to excess humidity, the deceased had slept on a cot with a mosquito net outside the house last night. In the morning, they found blood on the floor. After removing the mosquito net, they found that someone had beheaded him. Later, they informed the police which rushed to the village with a sniffer dog for an on-the-spot investigation.
Talking to the media, SDPO of Sambalpur Sadar Police Bhabani Shankar Udgata said that murder took place between 3 am and 4 am.
“We are trying to ascertain whether the deceased had any previous enmity with anyone. We have sought the help of the local people to trace the head. Besides, the scientific team has been pressed into the service to find clues the assailant has left behind after committing the murder,” the SDPO added.
