Sundargarh: In a tragic incident, a motorcyclist was burnt to death in a fire triggered by the head-on collision between two bikes on Kudpani Road in Biramitrapur area of Odisha’s Sundargarh district on Monday.
As per sources, the deceased, identified as Ashok Agarwal of Jharkhand, was proceeding to Biramitrapur from Raiboga in the morning when the mishap took place.
Two others on another bike were coming from the opposite direction and both the two-wheelers collided on the Kudpani road.
A fire was triggered under the impact of the collision and all the three bikers got caught in the blaze.
Hearing their screams, passers-by rescued two persons from the flames but were unable to rescue Ashok as he got stuck in his motorcycle and was burnt to death.
On being informed, a police team from Biramitrapur and Fire Service personnel reached the spot and doused the fire. While the two bikes were reduced to ashes, the body of Ashok was recovered and sent for post-mortem.
The injured bikers, whose identity is yet to be ascertained, were first admitted to Birmitrapur Government Hospital. As their condition worsened, they were shifted to Rourkela.
