Man Chops Off Brother’s Hand In Bhubaneswar Over Property Dispute



Bhubaneswar: A man allegedly chopped off his younger brother’s hand following a heated argument over a property dispute in Bharatpur area of Bhubaneswar.

As per sources, the incident took place at Banadurga slum in Bharatpur area of the capital city on Sunday night.

The a

ccused, identified as Surya Maharana, allegedly attacked his brother Ashok with a sharp weapon in a fit of rage following a dispute over the ownership of their house.

Following the attack, Surya reportedly tried to hide in a nearby house. However, angry locals caught him and thrashed him severely.

The situation further escalated when police arrived to take Surya into custody. A mob attacked the police, reportedly injuring a female Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) and a driver. The locals also vandalised a police vehicle and pelted stones.

The police finally took Surya into custody along with two others involved in the violence. Investigation into the incident is in progress.
