Berhampur: A man allegedly attempted to suicide from a tree after he was unable to arrange blood for treatment of his son in the MKCG Medical College and Hospital at Berhampur in Odisha’s Ganjam district on Sunday.
According to sources, the man belonging to Malkangiri district had admitted his son in the MKCG Hospital about a week back. Following various tests and initial treatment, the doctors asked the man to arrange blood from the Blood Bank in the hospital.
But the Blood Bank did not give him the blood for some reasons. The man could not arrange the blood from other sources also. Frustrated by deteriorating condition of his son and his inability to get blood for his treatment, the man climbed a tree on the hospital premises and attempted to jump to commit suicide.
On being informed, police and Fire services personnel rushed to the hospital. They tried to persuade the man to desist from taking the extreme step and climb down from the tree.
After around two hours of persuasion, the Fire services personnel and police managed to convince the man and brought him down safely from the tree. They admitted him in the hospital where his condition was stable, his family said.
