Man Commits Suicide After Wife’s Death In Fire Mishap In Odisha’s Sundargarh

Sundargarh: A man allegedly committed suicide after the death of his wife in a fire mishap in Odisha’s Sundargarh district on Saturday.

As per reports, Nandlal Champia of Zero Point under Tensa police station in Koida block of the district, had married Jines Kandulana one and a half years back. Jines gave birth to a baby girl 3 months back.

On January 26, Jines accidentally caught fire and was admitted to a local hospital. Later, she was shifted her to a private hospital as her condition deteriorated. But she succumbed on March 20.

On Saturday evening, Nandlal fed his baby girl and made her sleep. Then he went to a tree near his house and hanged himself with a rope.

As the infant started crying after some time, Nandlal’s neighbours came to enquire and found him hanging. They informed Nandlal’s parents-in-law and police.

The police have sent the body for post-mortem and registered a case of unnatural death. Later, they handed over the baby to the care of her maternal grandparents on their arrival.
