Balasore: A man allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself over loan burden at Mahanta Sahi of Manatri Panchayat under Soro block in Balasore district on Saturday night.
The deceased has been identified as Rabindra Parida.
As per sources, Rabindra had taken a loan of Rs 1.5 lakh from SHG group and Rs 50,000 from some village people for her daughter’ marriage in March, 2020.
For lockdown, he did not get any work and could not give the interest and instalments. Under pressure from villagers to return their money, he committed suicide, alleged Rabindra’s family members.
On being informed, police reached the spot and seized the body.
