The man and doctor gave her sleeping pills, smothered her using a pillow, and then stored the body in a freezer for a day.
However, a picture of the doctor choking his wife with a pillow has put both behind the bars. Apparently, the image was clicked by the man himself.
Police said that the incident happened on February 20 here where Sanjay Luthra, 42, a businessman, had plotted to kills his wife Chanda, 40, and conspired with a doctor named Rajat Bhardwaj who owed Rs 1.35 lakh to Luthra.
Luthra reportedly agreed to waive off the debt if Bhardwaj eliminated his wife.
“Though he was given a clean chit by the local Nauchandi Thana, we continued the probe and took custody of Sanjay Luthra’s mobile phone and recovered a few deleted pictures — one of which showed a woman being smothered with a pillow,” Inspector Ram Sanjeevan of crime branch was quoted as saying by news agency IANS.
During questioning, it came to the fore that Luthra had actually clicked the photograph of Bhardwaj and deleted it when confronted by the doctor.
