Khurda: A man was critically injured in an elephant attack at Angarapada village in Khurda on Saturday morning.
The victim has been identified as Brahmachari Behera. He belongs to Angarapada village and owns an Omfed kiosk.
According to sources, the wild elephant attacked him when he was on his way to the shop. A truck driver spotted him lying under a tree and rushed him to the Khurda district headquarters hospital in a critical condition. He was later shifted to a hospital in Bhubaneswar.
Notably, a herd of elephant strayed into Nirakarpur here on Friday and destroyed standing crop. The herd also attacked a woman of the village the same day.
Locals had earlier spotted a herd of around 25 elephants in those areas.
