Sundargarh: A man was crushed to death under the wheels of a trailer truck near Parijat Park in Odisha’s Sundargarh town while dropping his daughter to school on Thursday morning.
The deceased has been identified as Jugeswar Xalxo, a resident of Mahipani village under Sadar police limits. His wife Sarojini and 3-year-old daughter also sustained injuries in the mishap, which took place around 9 am when the speeding truck rammed into their two-wheeler. They have been admitted to the district headquarters hospital.
His wife accompanied him since they had planned to go for shopping after dropping their daughter off at the school, sources said.
Following the accident, irate locals staged a road blockade, alleging that illegal parking and reckless driving by the truck drivers had led to a rise in accidents in the area.
Meanwhile, police have seized the body and sent it for postmortem.
