Man Dies, Son Critical In Cracker Explosion In Puri

Konark: A man died while his son sustained critical injuries in an explosion while making crackers in a house at Pindol village under Gop block in Puri district on Tuesday morning.

The deceased has been identified as Ranjit Biswal.

The incident took place around 8am when Ranjit and his son Hapi were engaged in making crackers on the rooftop of their house.

A major portion of the house was damaged in the explosion.

The duo was immediately rushed to Community Health Centre at Charichhaka here for treatment by locals. However, Ranjit was declared brought dead by the doctors at the hospital. Hapi was later shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack as his condition deteriorated.

According to police sources, crackers were being illegally manufactured in the house without a valid licence.
