Bhawanipatna: Police on Saturday detained a man for allegedly stabbing his mother and burying the body after her death at Tunagaon village under Koksara police limits in Kalahandi district.
The matter came to fore this morning after police exhumed the body and sent it for post-mortem.
According to police sources, Ramesh Bimal had a heated argument with his mother Lanka Bemal on February 25. In a fit of rage, he stabbed her with a knife leaving her seriously injured.
Ramesh then rushed her to Koksara hospital. She was then shifted to district headquarters hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries on Friday. Without informing anyone about the death, he buried the body and fled the village, the sources added.
