Nayagarh: A man died while his nephew became critical due to asphyxiation while working on a septic tank near Odagaon cinema hall in Nayagarh district on Wednesday.
The deceased has been identified as Baikuntha Behera. His nephew, Pabana Behera, has been admitted to the district headquarters hospital.
The duo was engaged in construction of the tank at one Brundaban Biswal’s house when the incident took place.
According to available information, both of them were rushed to the hospital in a critical condition after they fell unconscious apparently for want of oxygen inside the tank.
Baikuntha, however, was declared brought dead by the doctors.
Being informed, police reached the spot and questioned Brundaban and his neighbours.
Meanwhile, residents of the area demanded an inquiry into the incident.
