Balasore: A man succumbed to injuries after being hit
by a speeding tanker truck at Naharapatna Square in Balasore district on Friday morning.
In protest, an irate mob staged a road blockade near the accident site, demanding adequate compensation for family members of the deceased and action against the driver. Vehicles were stranded, causing inconveniences to commuters. The block was lifted following the intervention of police. The locals alleged that the tanker was running at high speed when the driver lost control.
According to a police officer, the truck driver fled immediately after hitting the man on a bicycle on National Highway-16.
