Sonepur: A man has died of suspected sunstroke in Binika town of Odisha’s Sonepur district.
According to sources, the victim, identified as Asish Chhotray of Gandhi Nagar in the town, was working as a sanitation employee of Binika NAC. He had gone to work as usual on Wednesday and returned home in the evening.
On his return home, 32-year-old Asish felt uneasy and was taking rest. As his condition deteriorated late in the night, his family members rushed him to the community health centre (CHC) at Binika. But the doctors in the hospital declared him brought dead on Thursday morning.
The family members of Asish filed a complaint of sunstroke death at Binika police station. The police have registered a case and sent the body for post-mortem.
Medical superintendent Satyanrayan Panigrahy said Asish was admitted in the CHC at around 3 am on Thursday. But he had died before arriving in the hospital. The police were informed about the death and the cause of death would be known after the post-mortem, he added.
It may be noted that sunstroke has claimed two lives in the state in this season so far. According to official sources, a sunstroke death was reported from Dhenkanal district on April 29. Earlier, the first sunstroke death was reported from Balasore district.
