Jharsuguda: A man died after being hit by a speeding truck near Khaliamal Square in Jharsuguda district on Friday morning.
The deceased was identified as Gobardhan Kua, an employee of Vedanta. He was run over by a coal-laden truck while trying to cross the road, police sources said.
Following the incident, an irate mob gathered near the accident spot and blocked NH-49 demanding compensation to the family of the deceased and action against the errant driver, who fled the spot with his vehicle.
