Man Dies While Fighting Forest Fire In Odisha’s Mayurbhanj

Baripada: In a tragic incident, a man died while trying to save the saplings from forest fire in Mayurbhanj district on Sunday.

According to reports, the Forest department had engaged Jadumani Mahanta of Jadabila village under Thakurmunda police station to take care of the saplings planted in the nearby forest and protect those from fire.

Jadumani was working inside the forest on Sunday afternoon when the fire broke out. Instead of coming out of the forest, he tried to protect the saplings from the fast spreading fire, sources said.

On being informed, Fire personnel rushed to the spot and doused the fire. They found the half-burnt body of Jadumani from the forest.
