Kendrapada: A man was dragged into a river at a village in Rajnagar area of Odisha’s Kendrapada district on Friday.
As per preliminary reports, the incident took place at Dakhinabheda village under Rajnagar block of the district. The man, identified as Nimain Malick, is missing after being dragged into Hansua river by the crocodile. Efforts are on by the villagers to trace him.
Sources said Malick and his wife were irrigating their farmland in the morning on the banks of the river when a crocodile suddenly appeared from nowhere and attacked him. Despite resistance from his wife, the crocodile pulled Malick inside the river.
After getting information about the incident, officials of Forest department and police reached the spot and launched a search operation.
It may be noted here that man-crocodile conflict is nothing new for the residents in the districts of Kendrapara, Jajpur, and Jagatsinghpur.
