Konark: One member of a picnic party drowned in the sea at Pir Jahania beach near Astarang in Odisha’s Puri district on Saturday afternoon.
According to reports, a team of employees of a private company in Cuttack had gone to Pir Jahania beach for a picnic in the morning. After they had prepared food at the picnic spot, they went to the beach for a bath when the strong undercurrent dragged two employees into the deep waters. Following the incident, some locals present at the beach managed to rescue one employee while the other could not be traced.
Following information, a Fire Brigade from Astarang rushed to the spot and began the search operation. The body could not be traced till reports last came in.
