Berhampur: A man allegedly died by suicide at Kansuka village under Baliapadar police limits in Odisha’s Ganjam districts on the day of his son’s wedding, on Friday.

The deceased has been identified as Khadal Maharana (57).

According to source, Bulu, who had been staying with his maternal uncle following differences with his father, was to get married on this morning at the local Sankulei shrine. His uncle was conducting the wedding, which was, however, called off  after Maharana allegedly took the extreme step for not being consulted regarding it.

Meanwhile, police have seized the body and launched an investigation to ascertain the circumstances, leading to his death.
