Angul: The body of a man, who went missing two days ago, was recovered from a paddy field at a village in Odisha’s Angul district on Monday. It was alleged that he was murdered over some dispute relating to liquor business.
The deceased was identified as Ratan Nayak. His body was found in the paddy field at village Ekagharia under the jurisdiction of Angul Town police station, sources said.
Ratan was reportedly missing since Saturday and his family members failed to trace him despite frantic search operations. They had also informed the police about this. However, his body was found on Monday morning.
According to his family members, Ratan was selling country liquor in the village. Someone had recently asked him to sell liquor in pouches, but declined to accept the proposal. Following this, there was a heated argument between Ratan and the man, who had issued a threat.
Ratan’s wife said he was suspected to have been murdered over liquor business. Investigation by the police in connection with the incident is in progress.
