Puri: Ahead of the Navy Day celebrations, blood-stained body of a man with crush injury around the head was recovered from under Shree Setu in Odisha’s Puri town on Wednesday morning.
The deceased has been identified as Sudarsan Sahu (43), a resident of Khandiabandha village under Puri Sadar limits.
According to sources, Sahu ran a tiffin stall in Sadar market and was alleged stoned to death when he had gone to the Shree Setu with an acquaintance. His family launched a frantic search when he did not return home last night also closing his stall and his body was recovered this morning.
On being informed, Sadar police reached the spot and seized the body for postmortem.
The incident sparked tension in the area as President Droupadi Murmu was scheduled to head to Puri for darshan at Shree Jagannath Temple via Shree Setu.
