Berhampur: A 67-year-old man was found dead with his neck slashed in Berhampur of Odisha’s Ganjam district on Monday.
The body of the man, identified as Ranka Sethi of Ambika Nagar, was found lying in a pool of blood on roadside in Gandhi Nagar, about one-and-a half km from his house.
On being informed, a team from the Town police station accompanied by scientific team and sniffer dog squad rushed to the spot and started investigation. The body has been sent for post-mortem.
Berhampur SP Saravana Vivek M said prima facie there is a deep injury on his neck and he was suspected to have been attacked by sharp weapon.
“We have formed a special team and the CCTV footage of the locality would be thoroughly checked. Though the family members of the victim said Ranka had no enmity with anybody, we are investigating the murder case from different angles,” the SP said.
According to family members of the victim, as per his daily routine, Ranka had left the house at 4-30 am to pluck flowers in the locality. “He had no enmity with anybody. We don’t know who killed him and why,” they said.
