Jajpur: The body of a young man was found hanging inside the house of a woman, stated to be his lover, in Binjharpur area of Odisha’s Jajpur district on Friday.
The deceased has been identified as Ashok Das of Gangeswar Deuli village under the jurisdiction of Salipur police station in Cuttack district.
He was found hanging under mysterious circumstances inside a room at the house of his lover at Mainda village under the jurisdiction of Binjharpur police station in Jajpur district.
As per information, the daughter of one Babuli Das of
Mainda had married a man from Gangeswar Deuli village in Cuttack. After her marriage, the woman reportedly developed a relationship with Ashok, a resident of the same village.
Sources said the woman had been to her parents’ place for a short stay and Ashok reportedly reached Mainda on Thursday to meet her. However, the woman’s family members allegedly detained him. After getting information, Ashok’s parents rushed to Mainda and negotiated with the woman’s family to secure his release.
It was alleged that the woman’s family sought ransom from Ashok’s family. They allegedly kept Ashok confined to a room.
Ashok was alone in the room while his father went to a nearby market for food. Subsequently, Ashok was found hanging in the room.
On being informed by the youth’s father, a police team from Binjharpur rushed to the site and launched a probe into the incident. Police are questioning some people in connection with the incident.
