Bhubaneswar: A man from Dhenkanal’s Kamakhyanagar was found hanging in the room of a hotel in Odisha capital on Saturday.
The deceased has been identified as Debadatta Satyasarup Mahapatra, who ran a studio at Kamakhyanagar. He had got married around seven months ago.
According to family sources, Mahapatra had booked a room in the hotel at Kalinga Nagar here on October 16 for three days and was supposed to check out at noon on Saturday (October 19). However, he did not respond calls from hotel authorities and sound of the calling bell. Following which, the caretaker informed the hotel owner, who alerted police. He was found hanging when the door of the hotel room was broken in the presence of police.
It is being suspected that Mahapatra might have died by suicide over some financial issue.
His family members claimed that he was under financial stress as bills of work, pertaining to some government projects, were not cleared. They also alleged that he had been receiving some threatening calls. He had left home for Bhubaneswar for some editing work, the sources added.
