Bhubaneswar: A 32-year-old man was caught impersonating a former bureaucrat on Facebook and later arrested for allegedly using the platform to cheat youth for jobs and also women for marriage.
He was identified as Rajat Kumar Panda of Tihidi in Bhadrak district.
This came to the light when former sub-collector of Malkangiri Lingaraj Panda filed a complaint of a fake profile impersonating him.
With the help of the IT cell, police of Malkangiri, Bhubaneswar, Bhadrak and Mayurbhanj launched a manhunt to nab the accused.
Panda was arrested in Baripada and produced before Malkangiri SDJM on October 13. The court sent him to two-day police remand the following day.
