Jagatsinghpur: A man has been sentenced to 10 years of imprisonment for chopping the palm of a photographer in 2014.
District and Sessions Judge Anup Kumar Chandan pronounced the judgment on Tuesday.
The convict has been identified as Rajesh Parida of Mankdakhia village under Balikuda police limits. A fine of Rs 10,000 has also been imposed on him.
It is pertinent to mention here that Parida had attacked the photographer, Biswa Prasad Mohanty, with a sharp weapon over past enmity on January 26, 2014. His right palm was severed in the attack. Mohanty owned a studio at Dasbatia village near Balijori.
According to sources, Aparna Mohanty of Naharana village was also involved in the crime. On the instruction of Parida, the woman had requested the photographer to come to Balijori and click some pictures of her friends. Parida attacked him after he arrived at the spot.
He was arrested on the basis of the complaint lodged by Mohanty after he was discharged from the hospital. The accused woman, however, is absconding.
