Nuapada: The Special POCSO court on Wednesday sentenced a man to a 20-year jail term and imposed a fine of Rs 15,000 for raping a minor girl in Nuapada district in December 2018.
According to the case records, the 24-year-old youth of Nuapada block area lured a minor girl, who was staying at her grandfather’s house at Banamunda village under Lakhana police limits, to give a lift to her village on his bike.
However, instead of taking her to her village, the youth took her to a nearby forest and raped her. Hearing her shout, some youths grazing cows rushed to the spot. Seeing them, the youth fled the area.
Following a complaint lodged by the family members, the Nuapada police arrested the accused and forwarded him to the Special POCSO court.
