Man Gets Death Sentence For Killing Wife, Stabbing Minor Daughter In Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: A man was sentenced to death by a court in Bhubaneswar on Thursday for killing his wife and leaving his minor daughter critically injured in Odisha capital two years ago.

The court of the District and Sessions Judge (2nd) pronounced death sentence for Sanjit Das of Ghatikia area under Khandagiri Police Station in the city for committing the gruesome murder on June 9, 2022, said reports.

As per reports, the man stabbed his wife Saraswati Das to death over family feud. rink liquor. The killing was a gruesome act as the man had allegedly stabbed her 33 times resulting in her death.

The man had also attempted to kill his six-year-old daughter by slitting her throat. The girl was cured after battling for life for around three months in a hospital.

Terming the crime as a ‘rarest of the rare’ incident, judge Bandana Kar pronounced the quantum of punishment on the basis of fingerprints, 18 documents, and other scientific evidence and statements of around 15 witnesses.
