Man Gets Life Imprisonment For Raping Minor Girl In Odisha’s Koraput

Koraput: A court in Odisha’s Koraput district on Monday sentenced a 24-year-old man to life imprisonment for raping a 4-year-old girl four years ago.

The Special POCSO Court at Jeypore convicted and sentenced Raja Ram Muduli of Paraja Sahi of Kakiriguma to life imprisonment based on the depositions of 22 witnesses and 27 pieces of documents.

The court also imposed a fine of Rs 20,000 on Muduli.

The court ordered the District Legal Services Authority to pay a compensation of Rs 10.50 lakh to the rape survivor. Since Rs 3.5 lakh was paid to the rape survivor at the time of the filing of the case, she will be paid Rs 7 lakh being the residual amount of the compensation.

As per the case records, around noon on May 19, 2020, while the victim was playing with other children on the verandah of her house, Raja Ram Muduli lured her with a chocolate to a forest and raped her. After committing the crime Muduli left her in an unconscious state. The victim’s parents after a frantic rescued her from the forest.

Parents of the girl first took her to Kakiriguma Hospital and later she was shifted to Saheed Laxman Nayak Medical College & Hospital for treatment.

Kakiriguma police had registered a case in this connection. Following an investigation police arrested Muduli and forwarded him to court.
