Balangir: Two weeks after a young man was found dead under a bridge in Tushura area of Odisha’s Balangir district, police have arrested eight people, including his elder brother, for the murder of the youth in a planned way.
The victim, identified as Nataraj Thanapati, was found dead at Deolagudi village near the Tel River bridge under the jurisdiction of Tushura police station on the night of January 2.
In
vestigation by the police showed that Nataraj’s elder brother had hired close friend of the victim to push him off the bridge, offering Rs 60,000 to carry out the murder. It was found that the elder brother orchestrated the entire plan and had also engaged other accomplices.
Nataraj’s wedding had been scheduled for February 5, and preparations were underway when his body was discovered under mysterious circumstances. The family had lodged a complaint, prompting a thorough police investigation.
Police said that the elder brother confessed to masterminding the murder. The arrests highlight a disturbing case where trust and familial bonds were brutally violated for monetary gain.
The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are looking into the involvement of all eight accused in this premeditated murder.
