Dhenkanal: A man allegedly thrashed his wife and then buried her alive at Sitalabasa village in Odisha’s Dhenkanal district on Monday.
Police managed to rescue the woman, identified as Sukanti Sahu. She has been hospitalised. Police identified the accused as Ranjan Sahu.
Police have begun investigations but, according to preliminary probe, dispute over dowry led to the incident.
Sukanti sustained grievous injuries after being allegedly thrashed by Sahu, who then allegedly buried her alive in a pit behind the house.
After being rescued, she was first taken to Kamakhyanagar Hospital and then to Dhenkanal District Headquarters Hospital. She was later shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack.
